CommScope’s Ruckus ICX 7850 switch has been listed as the overall winner in the network category of CRN’s prestigious “2019 Products of the Year” award.
“CRN’s 2019 Products of the Year awards honor the best new products and major updates that made it onto our radar over the past year,” the publication stated.
“Our editors selected product finalists among 22 top technology categories for the IT channel. We then asked solution providers to determine winners based on how the products rate on technology, revenue and profit opportunities, and customer demand.”
According to CRN, CommScope’s Ruckus ICX 7850 switch line is bringing more Gigabit throughput from the core to the edge of the network. The Ruckus ICX 7850 switches provide high-density aggregation with up to 100 Gigabit Ethernet as businesses continue their multi-Gigabit network growth.
The ICX 7850 offers advanced stacking—with the option to scale up to 12 switches—as well as an available SmartZone network controller that provides configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities. The high-performance ICX 7850 line can also use existing fiber and network infrastructure that a business might have in place for a simple upgrade to the enterprise edge network.
According to Brandon Butler, IDC Senior Research Analyst, Enterprise Networks, IDC, the recent introduction of CommScope’s Ruckus ICX 7850 is quite timely because the industry is seeing a clear shift towards multigigabit access in enterprises.
“More data-intensive devices and applications continue to stress the core of the enterprise network and are driving a move to 100GbE network infrastructure. [CommScope’s] Ruckus ICX 7850 and management solutions address these issues and when complemented with the company's SmartZone network controller, the company is able to manage access points and switches in a ‘single pane of glass,’ simplifying network management and operational efficiency.”
Siva Valliappan, VP Wired Products at CommScope, stated: “CRN’s 2019 Products of the Year survey received more than 5,000 product ratings from solution providers. This is why being named the overall winner in the network category means so much to us. It was decided upon by our customers and reflects a true vote of confidence in our products.”
