If you missed my previous post, I announced that we are offering free training sessions to women who work for one of our partner organizations and who meet minimum requirements. The training sessions are for most of our ION distributed antenna system (DAS) and Node A repeater solutions. We offer these regularly to our partners to ensure they are qualified to install and commission CommScope solutions. We are reserving a few spots in every class for women to fill at no-charge.
We hope to encourage women in wireless to get certified and find work doing DAS installations, which happens to be a particularly busy area of the industry these days. I am very excited to see so many women contacting us to take advantage of this offer. I wasn’t sure if there would be much interest but there certainly has been. In fact, we already have seen the first women students who qualified under this program receive free training at our Dallas training center and successfully achieve ION-U commissioning certification.
Not only are women contacting us for these classes, but the media has taken an interest. Much unlike my normal workday, I have done a couple media interviews recently. And I am very excited to be participating in the Women in Telecom breakfast panel at The New IP summit in San Jose, California on February 19. I expect this panel to include engaging discussions about the challenges and opportunities of today’s telecom industry, especially for women. I look forward to meeting some new colleagues and hope to see you there.
Until then, we can start the discussion here. What do you want to discuss in terms of women in wireless?
