During my last blog, I introduced you to our latest C9516 Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) optical line terminal. I concluded the blog by asking this question, “How would you use a temperature-hardened optical line terminal to ease your deployment challenges?”
Before I continue, let me reintroduce you to this new solution. The C9516 EPON OLT is the cable industry’s first temperature-hardened, DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE) enabled, 10-Gigabit EPON optical line terminal. It is specially manufactured to withstand extended temperature range environments while delivering enhanced functionality.
As a scalable EPON optical line terminal, the C9516 enables network operators to control costs and capacity with a “pay as you grow” platform. Additionally, the platform incorporates a fully redundant design that improves system availability and reliability to “five nines” levels. Together, these features provide an adaptive and powerful EPON solution that satisfies network policy and configuration requirements.
In this You Tube video, I answer several questions including the benefit to deploying a temperature-harden solution. One reason is it allows operators to take the optical line terminal out of controlled environments and locate the solution closer to where the services are needed.
If you want to learn more about this temperature-harden solution and how it expands the boundaries of traditional PON optical line terminal, then I encourage you to watch this video. If you have any comments or questions, please use the comment section below.
