MCNC To Host Live Twitter Town Hall Event

This week will mark a major milestone for MCNC, because the first phase of the expansion of the North Carolina Research and Education Network through the Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative will be complete. Join the celebration marking this special event through MCNC's first online Twitter Town Hall Event.

Two months ago, we commended two of our customers (MCNC in North Carolina and Merit Network in Michigan) on being recognized by The White House as Champions of Change. Both are deploying high-speed broadband infrastructures to rural and underserved communities in their states.

CommScope is proud to have played a major part in the efforts to bring high-speed Internet services to these areas, including in our home state of North Carolina.

This week will mark a major milestone for MCNC, because the first phase of the expansion of the North Carolina Research and Education Network through the Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative will be complete.

To celebrate this achievement, MCNC will host its first online Twitter Town Hall on Friday, April 27, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. EDT, and will answer questions about this historic project and the expansion of broadband connectivity in North Carolina. The live event will be available in all Web browsers at www.mcnc.org/btop/townhall.

Questions will be selected both in advance and in real-time during the event. To have your voice heard, tweet your questions and be sure to include the hashtag #askMCNC.

You can track the conversation three ways:

  • Watch the event live at www.mcnc.org/btop/townhall

  • Follow live Tweets from @MCNC or @GLRBI

  • Search out the hashtag #askMCNC on Twitter

This online-event is an innovative and unique way to showcase the Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative, broadband connectivity, and NC Research and Education Network’s capabilities while using the power of social media.

I hope you can join MCNC to mark this special occasion. We can’t wait until the second phase is completed!
